Shanghai Crazy
Went to Shanghai, China last week for a series of workshops and a few meetings. It's not really my first time in China since I've been to Beijing and Guangzhou once before but Shanghai caught me completely by surprise!
China opened up 20 years ago -- so most of the buildings erected there now are less than 20 years old -- but my gosh! Everywhere I look, I just see a sea of buildings! Shanghai is so far from the picture of China that Beijing and Guangzhou has left as an impression in me when I last visited China. Shanghai is the picture of cosmopolitan city progression. And, i found the fact that no matter how big the roads get in Shanghai, there will surely be a bicycle lane to the right side of the road very very charming indeed! Something about the past that the Shanghai-nese decided to keep for their city. I had a blast shopping in Shanghai. I finally bought that chinese baby doll dress I've wanted for so long at Nanjing Road and I got it at 70% discount!!! Not bad at all at 179 RMB!

Unwillingly Reminded
(since we are on a song spree...just took a compilation cd off the rack at changi airport this morning on my way to shanghai...)
Reminded me of someone I used to be really close to in the past. If what he says is really true...my heart cries for him...my prayers are with him even if we are no longer friends now...
(the blower's daughter by damien rice)
and so it is
just like you said it would be
life goes easy on me
most of the time
and so it is
the shorter story
no love, no glory
no hero in her sky
i can't take my eyes off of you
i can't take my eyes off you
i can't take my eyes off of you
i can't take my eyes off you
i can't take my eyes off you
i can't take my eyes...
and so it is
just like you said it should be
we'll both forget the breeze
most of the time
and so it is
the colder water
the blower's daughter
the pupil in denial
i can't take my eyes off of you
i can't take my eyes off you
i can't take my eyes off of you
i can't take my eyes off you
i can't take my eyes off you
i can't take my eyes...
did i say that i loathe you?
did i say that i want to
leave it all behind?
i can't take my mind off of you
i can't take my mind off you
i can't take my mind off of you
i can't take my mind off you
i can't take my mind off you
i can't take my mind...
my mind...my mind...
'til i find someone new

How I Feel For You
it felt like springtime on this february morning
in the courtyard birds were singing your praise
i'm still recalling things you said to make me feel alright
i carried them with me today, now
as i lay me down to sleep
this i pray
that you would hold me dear
though i'm far away
i'll whisper your name into the sky
and i will wake up happy
i wonder why
i feel so high though i am not above the sorrow
heavy hearted
till you call my name
and it sounds like church bells
or the whistle of a train
on a summer evening
i'll run to meet you
barefoot
barely breathing
it's not too near for me
like a flower i need the rain
though it's not clear to me
every season has its change
and i will see you
when the sun comes out again
as i lay me down to sleep
this i pray
that you would hold me dear
though i'm far away
i'll whisper your name into the sky
and i will wake up happy
